Public Access

The Aramoana Beach for many years was only accessible to the public because of the goodwill of the McHardy family who farmed Aramoana Station.  The family allowed the public to use their roads on private land so that the community of Central Hawke's Bay could use the beach. They allowed camping until such time the camp grew too big and the responsibility of the public on private land became too onerous.

The land was sold to the Shoal Beach Development Company and they then gifted to the council, sealed roads and carpark, so that the public could continue to use and access the beach and the Te Angiangi Marine Reserve.
