Last summer has been exceptional, with stunning hot days and balmy evenings. The sea has been calm for swimming, water sport and fishing. Everybody made the most of this lovely sheltered beach to swim or snorkel for crayfish and paua. There were lots of fires on the beach for the kids and drinks on the end of the board walk for the adults. The barbeques were endless with great wine and the best seafood imagineable. So this summer at Shoal Bay has been wonderful and we had some very sad faces when it was time to pack up and travel home.
Hawke's Bay's east coast is famous for it's beautiful sandy beaches and hot summers. If you are a keen diver there is a fantastic marine reserve 100m from the residential area where pack horse crayfish, kina, paua, octopus, and other marine life flourish.
There is surfing and on other days it's like a mill pond, ideal for water skiing and biscuiting. In the evenings the bay is usually calm, so if you are into wakeboarding, the bay makes a unique area for the east coast where you can water ski 'til dusk. Long walks down the beach, exploring the rock pools, swimming, bird watching, and relaxing on the beach are the simple things your can enjoy at Shoal Beach.
